Externally funded scholarships

Funding is available from a number of external organisations to help you pay for your studies.

Whether you're an undergraduate or a postgraduate student, from the UK or overseas, you may be able to apply for additional funding from external groups, companies and individuals who have an interest in supporting higher education.

Undergraduate

This is an external scholarship for students with Black or mixed Black heritage who also meet one of the following: qualified for free school meals; young carer; looked-after child; household annual income of less than £18,480. Find out more.

The scholarship is open to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the UK Maritime Defence Sector. Find out more.

Postgraduate

Chevening is the UK government's international scholarship programme, offering students with leadership potential the chance to study a fully funded Masters degree at a UK university. Find out more

Postgrad Solutions offers 15 bursaries worth £500 across a number of subject areas, as well as for general postgraduate study. Read more here

This external scholarship fully funds a Masters degree for students with leadership potential, who have achieved, or are expected to achieve, at least a 2:1 in their undergraduate degree. Applicants can be studying any subject but must show how their degree will help them contribute to the development of their region. Find out more

Two scholarships are available for September 2024 entry, one each for: MSc Global Health: Human Health and the Environment and MSc Gender Studies, for students from developing Commonwealth countries. Find out more

The US-UK Fulbright award aims to foster cultural understanding between our two countries. Preference is therefore given to applicants who do not have extensive experience (six months or longer) in the UK. Find out more.
