Teenage Reading Network
Highlighting the session was Professor Jessie Ricketts' insightful presentation on the Teenage Reading Network. Her work, focusing on improving literacy among adolescents through interdisciplinary collaboration and projects like the Blackpool Key Stage 3 Literacy Project, underscored the importance of engaging with young people to enhance reading skills. Introduction of the SSIA Steering Group
Additionally, the introduction of the SSIA Steering Group by Professor Kathy Rastle who shared her expert insights on applying for flexible funding. She highlighted the importance of ensuring research is predominantly led by social science, clarified the distinction between impact and pathways to impact, and emphasised the need for clear, non-specialist language in applications. There were also discussions on upcoming training events, funding calls, and the accelerator's focus areas which provided attendees with a clear roadmap for future collaboration and impact.
