On the 7 November 2023, we kicked off our first ever Social Science Impact Network lunch, a big step towards enhancing social science research with real impact.
A huge thanks to everyone involved for making it a standout event.
A Gathering Full of Sharing and New Ideas
The lunch was all about sharing: ideas, experiences, and dreams. It was a golden chance for social science folks from all walks to meet, mingle, and mull over how to make a difference with their research. This event turned out to be a great spot for sparking conversations and thinking up collaborations.
Spotlight on Dr. Martina Hutton and Her Impactful Work
Dr. Martina Hutton, from the Marketing department, stole the show with her talk. Having won an Impact Award for her collaborative project with a 22-stakeholder network, she shared her journey and the power of working together with communities to effect change. Her story was a strong reminder of the impact that can come from joining forces in research.
Building a Community for Change
The Social Science Impact Network is all about forging a community that's ready to use social science for good. This lunch was just the start, aiming to bring together bright minds dedicated to impactful research.
Looking Ahead to More Impact
This first lunch was only the beginning. It set the stage for what we hope will be a thriving community of social science researchers and practitioners eager to make a real difference. The discussions we started and the connections we made are just the first steps towards integrating social science research with community needs.
We're excited for what's to come and grateful for the support and enthusiasm of our amazing community. Thanks to everyone who came to the lunch. Your involvement is what's shaping this network into a force for positive change. Here's to many more successful events and breakthroughs in our future!
