One of 2017's MA Public History graduates - Kirstie Arnould - won a commendation at the Public History Prizes on Friday 26 January, in the postgraduate student category. Her final project,

Her final project, ‘Keeping us in Mind: Silences and Voices in the Epsom Cluster’ (supervised by Jane Hamlett), was given the following citation:

In the category for postgraduate students, the judges would like to commend a community oral history project and touring exhibition. These deal with a difficult issue – mental health – in a thoughtful and insightful manner. Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the project brought together communities connected with a cluster of psychiatric hospitals, Surrey History Centre, a mental health charity and Bourne Hall Museum. It has allowed them to share their memories with a wide public audience and makes a significant contribution to the history of mental health.
