On June 5, 2023, the first event, "Fashion Forward: Let's Talk Fashion with Conscience", took place as a result of a collaboration between Royal Holloway, University of London, and Lancaster University led by Dr Anabel Gutierrez, Senior Lecturer and Director of the MSc Digital Marketing course at the School of Business and Management, Royal Holloway. For the event The Academy of Marketing - Digital Marketing and Analytics SIG members, provided excellent support to bring together speakers from both industry and academia who shared insights on technology, data sharing and analytics, circular economy, and sustainability. Participants used design fiction to co-create "fashion futures" in an interactive workshop led by researchers from the University of Lancaster, Dr Naomi Jacobs and Dr David Perez.

Second event

We are delighted to announce our second event on 7 December 2023. The event aims to foster further collaboration between universities and fashion practitioners. Building on the success of our previous event, we will explore the ongoing debates surrounding sustainability and technology in the fashion industry.

Dr Claudia Henninger from the University of Manchester, with her extensive experience in sustainable fashion, will host the next stage of the work with Dr Courtney Chrimes, providing a participatory environment to discuss complex issues from the speakers' presentations and opportunities to networking with participants for the 5th International Colloquium on Design, Branding and Marketing (ICDBM). Dr Peter Craigon, from the University of Nottingham, will facilitate the exploration of the "fashion futures" using card-based tools and enable ethical debates around sustainability, the use of technology, and data within the fashion sector.
