Executive Director of Business and People Services appointed

Stephen McAuliffe has been appointed Executive Director of Business and People Services and will join Royal Holloway on 1 June 2024.

Stephen has been Deputy Registrar at the University of Nottingham since 2020, where he co-chairs the University Operations Board and provides cross-university leadership on strategic projects. Stephen has been in the Higher Education sector for 25 years, working on major estate projects, digital transformations, wider HR transformations, transnational education, student recruitment and external relations work, as well as serving on major institutional boards and with council.

The directorates reporting into the Executive Director of Business and People Services include Estates, IT Services, Commercial Services, Library and Cultural Services, Strategic Communication and Marketing, Research and Innovation and Human Resources.

Stephen previously held roles as an Academic Registrar at both the University of Birmingham and the University of Essex.

Speaking about his appointment, Stephen said: “Royal Holloway offers me a new challenge. The University’s mission, traced back to its founding, is one that really appeals, and I am looking forward to working with partners across the University.  Royal Holloway is a great institution, with a special history, and I am looking forward to both contributing a lot to the University and learning a lot from my new colleagues.”
