Our EDI Governance, policies and reports

EDI governance

Our Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Julie Sanders, alongside our University Council, have overall responsibility for Equality. Our central Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee oversees the on-going development and implementation of all strategies, policies and procedures designed to embed the promotion of equality and diversity across the institution.

The EDI Committee reports to the University Executive Board and works with key EDI groups and leads in Professional Services to ensure that our principles are mainstreamed and underpin all that we do.

Our EDI governance structure is designed to Ensure diverse perspectives and lived experiences inform our work through network representation embedded throughout; facilitate focus on intersecting issues; and strengthen collaboration between colleagues and students.

Policies

We have developed a range of policies to support all colleagues and students across the university, including reasonable adjustments, menopause, transitioning at work, flexible working and dignity at work, and a range of family-friendly policies. We are continually revising and strengthening accompanying guidance to ensure our policies are effective.

We have Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) guidance in place to identify and mitigate the impact of policies on different individuals and groups. We offer regular EIA training for senior managers, and professional services and academic colleagues directly involved in amending existing, or developing new policies and practices.
