The Founder is our independent student newspaper.
It was formed in 2006 by several like-minded students who saw the need for an alternative to the official Students' Union publication. It’s a newspaper aiming to bring together all of the mediums available to students at Royal Holloway.
The Founder is a forum for campus news and views, with the News section delivering well-written updates tailored to students’ interests. It features stories from the local community as well as news from the College and Students’ Union.
The publication also includes a Comment and Debate section, Features, Sport and a pull-out section entitled Extra, which includes Music, Film and Arts.
You can pick up a free copy of The Founder around campus and in a number of popular student entertainment venues in Egham and other local amenities.
More than 1,000 students have written for and been involved in The Founder over the past five years and alumni of the newspaper have found employment with the likes of CNN, Reuters, ITV, Esquire, the BBC and Vogue, to name just a few.
In 2009, The Founder became the first student newspaper in the UK to provide an iPhone app.
