Trigger Happy: An overview of the ongoing evolution of the CMS trigger
Dr. Andrew Rose (Imperial college)
The CMS detector at the LHC at CERN, and its off-detector electronics have
undergone a number of changes from its original design to take on the
challenges posed by the ever-increasing luminosity, to maximize the
data-taking efficiency, and optimize the data quality. Some of these
changes have been incremental adoption of new technology, others involving
more radical changes in paradigm: The design and rational behind the novel
changes will be explained. I will also discuss the challenges faced at CMS
at the HL-LHC, and the proposed upgrades to the detector and off-detector
electronics needed to rise to these challenges.
