Marina will be working on Disentangling the radio sky with spectra from WEAVE-LOFAR
The Centre for Astrophysics Research at the University of Hertfordshire is a world-leading research institute with wide-ranging expertise across astrophysics, from the early Universe to studying extra-solar planets in the local volume.
The WEAVE-LOFAR survey is a survey using the new WEAVE facility to obtain more than a million spectra of radio sources identified using the new LOFAR radio telescope. This is essential to enable us to determine the distance to the radio sources (by measuring their redshifts) and clarifying their nature (e.g. determining whether their energetics are dominated by accretion onto super-massive black holes, or star formation). This project will involve working on the cutting edge of knowledge, developing the algorithms that are essential for making WEAVE-LOFAR a success.
