Professor Tina Ramnarine, from the Department of Music at Royal Holloway, University of London, has been elected to the British Academy Fellowship, in recognition of her contribution to the humanities and social sciences.

The British Academy is the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences and each year selects one or two academics from hundreds of others operating in their branch of research to be elected a Fellowship. Professor Ramnarine is one of the 86 Fellows (52 UK Fellows, 30 Corresponding Fellows and 4 Honorary Fellows) this year recognised by the British Academy to have achieved distinction in her work.

Professor Tina Ramnarine, from the Department of Music at Royal Holloway, expressed her gratitude at being elected, adding: “It is a great honour to be elected a Fellow of the British Academy. The institution supports scholarship that aims to understand the world around us, enrich public debate and shape the future. As an interdisciplinary researcher working across the Humanities and Social Sciences, I especially look forward to contributing my insights on arts responses to global challenges to the work of the British Academy.”

Professor Ramnarine will join current Fellows the classicist Professor Dame Mary Beard, the historian Professor Sir Simon Schama and philosopher Professor Baroness Onora O’Neill. Find out more here
