The Law Society at Royal Holloway, University of London decided to enroll in the OUP & The ICCA National Mooting Competition 2022/23, organized by the University of Oxford. In the first round of the competition, undergraduate students from the Department of Law and Criminology at Royal Holloway, University of London will compete against their peers from the University of Huddersfield.

To select the students who will participate to the first round of the competition, the Law Society members asked Dr Yvonne Jacobs, Dr Leela Cejnar and Dr Eugenio Vaccari to judge three moots and identify the students, who will represent Royal Holloway, University of London at the competition.

The judges were highly impressed by the professionalism of the mooters and the quality of their submissions. After lengthy deliberations, the judges selected Ms Magda Gromek, Ms Kate Akouri, Ms Lexy Williams and Mr Matthew Brackley as the representatives of the Department in the competition.

The activity was also part of the mooting training organized by the Law Society, giving students the opportunity to practice their advocacy skills and receive feedback on how to continue developing them. We expect to continue running internal competitions like this one along the year and participating in other external events. Please get in contact with the Law Society if you are interested in getting involved.

The academic staff at the Department of Law and Criminology at Royal Holloway, University of London commends the SU Law Society for the efforts for organizing this initiative, and wishes the best of luck to the students who will represent the Department at the national mooting competition.
