Nicola Antoniou, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Law and Criminology, took part in the 21st Annual Conference of the European Society of Criminology (programme here) on 9th September 2021.

The European Society of Criminology was founded in 2000. The Society aims to bring together in Europe persons actively engaged in research, teaching and/or practice in the field of Criminology.

This year’s EUROCRIM2021 was an e-conference, with colleagues from Europe joining over Zoom to share ideas and best practice in the field of criminology. Nicola, together with Prof. Christine Graebsch (University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Dortmund University) and Prof. Kirstin Drenkhahn (Freie Universität Berlin, Chairperson), contributed to a Roundtable called ‘Legal clinics for prisoners and their families’. Nicola spoke about the HMP Coldingley Law Clinic that was set up as part of Royal Holloway’s Legal Advice Centre. Other colleagues shared their experiences and best practice about their Clinics that specialised in prison law and post-convictions.

Nicola commented: “It was a really engaging and interesting event that shared an invaluable insight into different practices and legal systems, and a chance for colleagues to come together with shared passions for pro bono legal work”.
