Bills - are bills included in the rent?

Bills - are bills included in the rent?

It is not common these days for landlords to pay the bills for rented properties (although some landlords will still include certain bills, especially water-rates, in their rent). For this reason, you may want to discuss the utility providers with your landlord so that you can ensure you get the best value for money.

In Resident Landlord accommodation (lodgings), most of the time your rent will cover the utility bills, but sometimes these will be charged as extra. Telephone and internet are normally charged as extra. Please verify charges with the landlords, and ensure you have a record of them in writing.
