Policy & Social Work Practice

Professor Tony Evans and Dr Frank Keating have edited and contributed to a major new book on the relationship between social work and policy making which also includes contributions from Royal Holloway academic staff Stefan Brown and Anna Gupta.

Policy and Social Work Practice (Sage, 2015) is designed to help all those involved in social work think critically about the relationship between policy and practice.

Review for the book have praised the contribution this study makes to the field of Social Work:

This book explores in a really thoughtful and accessible way the vital but curiously neglected subject of the relationship between social policy and social work. It contains contributions from highly respected national and international scholars and is a really strong contribution to this area of study’

Professor Brigid Featherstone, The Open University

‘In a nutshell, the book’s strength is its ability to chart the history of social work practice within a changing social policy landscape while providing a valuable resource for contemporary social work across a range of theoretical, geographical and practice borders … Policy & Social Work Practice is as well-timed contribution to the social work literature.’

Professor Adele Jones, University of Huddersfield
