Philosophy to join PIR

Posted on 24/10/2011

The Department has been part of the development of philosophy at Royal Holloway since the College first introduced a series of Philosophy minor degrees in 2007. This was followed in 2009 with the establishment of joint degrees with Classics, Drama, English, Modern Languages, Music, and Politics & International Relations. Throughout these developments the political theorists in PIR have contributed to teaching on the core philosophy programme and have also offered a number of popular second and third year options. With these existing teaching links, overlapping areas of research between members of the philosophy team and PIR, and more generally the important disciplinary connections between philosophy, politics and international relations in mind, the Academic Board approved a proposal to house philosophy permanently in PIR and from September 2012.

This move comes alongside the introduction of an exciting new BA/BSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics that has now started to recruit for 2012.

Further information about existing philosophy programmes can be found here.
