Postgraduate opportunities

Research in the department spans a wide range of fundamental and applied areas of Physics. 

Typically, we accept 10 students annually onto PhD programmes in our research groups. Studentships are funded by UK Research Councils, the European Commission, the National Physical Laboratory and Royal Holloway.  We may also accept students who are self-funded or supported from other sources.

Our 2016 Postgraduate Open Day takes place on Wednesday 30 November.from 1300 - 1600 in Tolansky Room T118. Come and meet us and find out more about postgraduate research opportunities at Royal Holloway..

STFC funded studentships are available now

We welcome applications from all areas of the community. We will be accepting applications until all positions are filled. Applications are welcome until January 31, 2017, beyond this date applications will still be considered if positions are available.

How to apply

The application procedure consists of two important steps:

  • Complete the online application procedure and submit it. You should also save a copy of the application form.
  • Send a copy of the above application form  and your CV by email to the director of Particle Physics postgraduate admissions (Dr. Pavel Karataev), stating the date and time when you submitted your application.
