You will take three core language course units per year, choosing three of the four languages offered by the School: French, German, Italian, and Spanish..
German, Italian and Spanish are available at beginners’ or advanced level. French is only available at advanced level. Only one language out of the three studied can be taken from beginners' level.
All or part of your third year will be spent abroad studying at a partner university, working as a language assistant, or in other approved employment.
In the Philosophy component of your course you will be introduced to key elements of the subject – covering areas such as ancient philosophy and reason, argument and persuasion – before choosing from a wide array of optional topics.
Throughout the course, you will:
learn to converse and write confidently in your chosen languages
analyse and critique materials in a wide variety of media
take advantage of excellent quality equipment and dedicated language learning facilities.
develop your understanding of key philosophical texts
acquire critical, analytical and group-working skills.
