Mike Causey Biography
Workshop: ‘Risk and Reward at BP in 2010’
Mike Causey, a governance, risk and compliance specialist, has been at BP for 6 years.
Following graduating from the School of Management at RHUL in 1995, Mike trained at an accountancy partnership, prior to developing a project management career at the payroll and HR global leader, ADP.
At BP, Mike has delivered compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements across the world on behalf of its IT services business unit, Global Operations and Infrastructure (GOI). In his current role, Mike is responsible for ensuring GOI's management of all risks, delivery of Internal Audit engagement, and certification of BP's Code of Conduct.
Outside of the corporate world, Mike has been a Waverley Borough councillor for the past 4 years; owns a coffee shop and farm shop at the Farnham Pottery; and most importantly is husband to Rach, and father to Caleb, Heidi and Jonah.
Mike will tell the story of risk at BP: a view of the recent history of events and the lessons learned. The story examines these general and, more recently, personal experiences to highlight the need to speak truth to power and to be ready for anything. Along the way, he will provide insights into how working for a big corporate can be personally stretching, intellectually challenging, and culturally and relationally rewarding.
