Royal Holloway Management Alumnus Wins 15,000 EUR in TV Start-Up Competition

Jens Buch and business partner Ronny Beweng on Success Story 2012

MSc Business Information Systems graduate Jens Buch, who graduated from the School of Management in 2003, won 15,000 EUR for his start-up on Success Story 2012 - a business start-up competition in Luxembourg that is also aired on Luxembourg's national TV station. Out of 90 entrants, 3 winners are picked by a jury of local business executives.

Jens Buch and his business partner Ronny Beweng entered the competition with their zero-configuration video surveillance system - SurviCam. Without installing any software, consumers and small businesses can have a video surveillance system which can be accessed from any web browser and/or iPhone, iPad, Android & Blackberry device. The system uses the customer's existing internet connection to transfer the camera's recordings to a secured data center, thereby eliminating the need for a local recording device. Next to purchasing the actual video surveillance camera, the customer pays a subscription fee for the storage facility.

When asked what is revolutionary about the system, Jens replies: "We have not re-invented video surveillance. We have simply brought video surveillance to a point where everyone can setup and use a state-of-the-art video surveillance system - all at an affordable price."
