The SCONUL Access scheme is the first portal of call if you need to use another university library. Royal Holloway participates in this scheme, which allows all categories of staff or students to use other university libraries, with different borrowing rights dependent on your given band.

How do I apply?


Please select Royal Holloway as your home institution, and ensure you use the correct student number and college email.

After you have completed the Library Access Application Form, we will receive an email requesting that we confirm your status as a current Royal Holloway student or staff member in good standing. This means that all fines are cleared from your account, and that all of your books and loans are within date.

Applications may be denied if your student number or college email is incorrect, or if you have outstanding fees or overdue books on your account. Likewise, SCONUL access can be revoked at any time if you do not remain in good standing with Royal Holloway Library, or any institution that you visit. 

Once we confirm your status, you will receive an email from SCONUL to confirm the success of your application.

You only need to apply once: once you're accepted you will be able to access material from all participating institutions.

Please note that the application process is not immediate and takes up to 48 hours, Monday - Friday, so ensure you apply within good time before you plan your visit.
