BASAS Annual Conference 2014: Call for Papers

Wednesday 2 - Friday 4 April 2014 @ Royal Holloway, University of London

The British Association of South Asian Studies (BASAS) is now accepting panel and paper submissions for its Annual Conference 2014 which due to take place on 2-4 April 2014 at Royal Holloway, University of London (@ Royal Holloway’s campus in Egham, Surrey).

Themed ‘South Asia and its wider worlds’, the conference aims to address the diverse ways in which trends and developments in South Asia interact with the wider context in which the region is located, whether in the past, present or even the future. We invite proposals for panels as well as independent papers that address the conference theme—whether at personal, local, regional, state and inter-state levels—within South Asia and across its diaspora. Panels and papers might be focussed around issues of community, class, caste, ethnicity, gender, nation, governance, law, geography, development, culture, material culture, environment, history, religion, language, art, linguistics and representation, to name but a few possible options. We welcome bold, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches.

Please note that the organisers will also consider panel proposals/papers that may not connect directly with the conference theme, but which can contribute to the scope of discussion and debate taking place among conference participants.
