We will be welcoming Professor Derek Gregory of University of British Columbia to the Department next Thursday.  Derek is one of the most significant thinkers in political, historical and cultural geography, and is best known through his books The Colonial Present and Geographical ImaginationsHis recent work has focused on the geographies of war, occupation and violence, and has been vital in bringing postcolonial perspectives both into debates about key geopolitical issues of our times, and into debates about the nature of geography.
