‘Inklings’ was the name of an informal literary discussion group of which Tolkien was a key member. ‘Thinklings’ is a new informal discussion group where ideas about Tolkien’s work can be shared and explored.
Founded by Corinne Dale (M-Phil) and co-developed with Harrison Morris (BA), the group aims to discuss Tolkien’s work in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and to exchange ideas on a wide range of topics chosen by its members. Members are encouraged to ‘show and tell’ anything that might aid discussion, including scholarly articles, film clips, extracts from primary sources and personal written work.
The first ‘Thinklings’ meeting was held on Friday 23 November 2012, and the series will continue to be run at Royal Holloway on Fridays, 11-12 (room BA280), and all year groups and levels of expertise are welcome.
