BA Drama & Dance: brand new for 2014 entry

Posted on 13/06/2013

We are delighted to announce a new and exciting three-year BA degree in Drama & Dance to run from 2014*. This rigorous programme is creative and critical in equal measure, challenging your mind and body and offering you the opportunity to express your understanding of the arts, cultures, and histories of dance and theatre in both practical and theoretical ways.

The precise programme structure is still in development, but is likely to include elements of the theory of performance-making, study of theatrical texts, the history of different styles of dance and drama and approaches to choreography and movement-making; as well as creative and practical projects in which you can make and perform your own work. You will be able to follow your own interests as you progress through your degree, widening your awareness of the contemporary arts and developing your engagement in a range of contemporary debates and practices.

Royal Holloway is the first college of the University of London to offer BA Drama & Dance and our status as an incredibly creative and inspiring self-contained campus, enjoying close proximity to London, provides the ideal platform. Our top ten** Department of Drama & Theatre already has considerable expertise and experience teaching physical theatre, our beautiful Boilerhouse provides a peerless space for intensive dance and physical work, and we have excellent connections with key choreographers and industry practitioners.

If you are a Drama student wanting to specialise in physical work, or a dancer interested in broadening your performance horizons, this is the degree programme for you.
