Posted on 15/03/2012

A major commission for the Cultural Olympiad 2012, Lone Twin'sThe Boat Project will be launched on Monday 7th May at Thornham Marina, Emsworth, near Chichester. The boat itself is a beautiful 30 foot seagoing vessel made from over 1200 donations of wooden objects and stories.

As part of the boat's launch, David Williams' book The Lone Twin Boat Project will also be launched. In addition there will be a naming ceremony and other events to mark the beginning of the boat's maiden voyage along the south coast, with a diverse programme of curated events at ports of call en route.

For full details of Lone Twin (Gary Winters and Gregg Whelan) and The Boat Project - a major Arts Council commission awarded to Lone Twin, and representing the south east region in the 'Artists Taking The Lead' initiative - please see the project website: www.theboatproject.com

The website also provides details of how to reserve free tickets for the launch event on 7th May (available from 21st March) , and how to pre-order the book.
