Position: Business Analyst

Why did you choose Royal Holloway for your degree?

The course had the right mix of management and technology along with a good reputation. Also I had come from working in the city so was excited about the green campus and beautiful architecture.

How did your time at Royal Holloway help your future career?

I was able to really indulge myself in study as I took a year off work. I really enjoyed getting deep into the theory and was able to stretch my mind in ways that I didn't think was going to be possible. The natural setting also helped keep the tension down and brain in full learning mode.
As far as the course went, I was able to get up to speed with the latest technology management thinking and learn hands on project management and web programming techniques which enabled me to be really comfortable about my new abilities in interviews.

What advice would you give to students thinking about a career in your sector?

I would say get as much work/voluntary experience as possible. It is possible to have your own projects on the go and really just practice and think about everything you've learned. Don't learn for exams only, learn because you are passionate. If you're passionate, employers can tell straight away, I think it goes a long way.
