Classics students get the Olympic spirit

Posted on 10/07/2012

As the country gears up for the excitement of the Olympics, for which Royal Holloway is an official venue, students from the Classics Department are already intimately involved with supporting the event, from first-year student volunteers for events such as the diving, to managing whole venues! Classics doctoral research student, Christina Pouros, is working for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) as Venue Protocol Manager at Greenwich Park, where the Equestrian, Modern Pentathlon and Para-Equestrian events will be held. She manages the Protocol team, which includes responsibility for Language Services, Flag Protocol and the Medal and Flower presenters for Victory Ceremonies, as well as responsibility for the Olympic and Paralympic Family, including International and Domestic Dignitaries as well as members of the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees. Good luck to Christina, and to all our students involved in the Olympics!
