Katherine Dale

Katherine Dale_DSC4508mrI’m on two committees and have just finished directing a show – there’s so much going on here. I’m a founding member of the English Literature Society, which is going on my CV! My involvement really helps with my course, as it gives me more opportunity to specialise in my personal interests. I’m able to improve in areas which enable me to stretch myself in class, and it gives me confidence to do more.

It’s lovely to work with people from different backgrounds, with a breadth of knowledge that means they can contribute different things. It’s great to work together and work out what you’re passionate about, what you love. Royal Holloway allows you so many different options – there’s a wealth of things available to us. If it interests you, you can get involved.

Being taught by world-leading experts opens up your mind to the effect the academic has on the world. You don’t just learn at an undergraduate level – you actually go way beyond that, and the number of incredible people we have here is fantastic. You realise they have real influence and are out there doing amazing work. They want to be teaching what they’re teaching because it’s what they love, and that’s really exciting.

Royal Holloway is a lovely campus community – you’re always seeing someone that you know, and that’s really lovely. You feel like you’re part of something. You can’t not be excited about where the university has come from and where it’s going. You can’t ignore that you’re somewhere really special.
