Royal Holloway, University of London has made a commitment to offer more than 120 scholarships and awards, worth a total of £2million, to support postgraduate students over the next three years.
The scholarships are being offered to outstanding students for PhD and Masters degrees as part of the College’s continuing investment in postgraduate research.
The Principal, Professor Paul Layzell, said: “In the six months since I joined Royal Holloway I have been extremely impressed by the range and depth of research taking place across all three faculties. The Times Higher Education World Rankings has placed Royal Holloway 88th in the world for the quality of our research and I believe it is vital that we continue to invest in our exceptional young scholars who will be the future leaders of their field.”
He added: “Despite the news of cuts in higher education, we have continuing support from the Research Councils, along with funding from our partnerships with industry, business and charities and government organisations. We are able to offer a vibrant and supportive research environment and would welcome applications from students who believe they can help keep Royal Holloway at the leading edge of research.”
The College awards will support research taking place in centres of established research excellence across the faculties of Arts, Science and History and Social Sciences.
