Professor Edith Hall

The last lecture in a series celebrating the legacy of inspirational female academics will be held at Royal Holloway, University of London this week.

Special guest Professor Emeritus Froma Zeitlan of Princeton and Cambridge Universities will conclude the Women in Research lecture series this Wednesday.

Chosen by Professor of Classics Edith Hall as the woman who has most inspired her work, these two renegade classicists will be having a frank and open discussion about how they became interested in their subjects, what has driven them in the their careers and what the future holds for students undertaking classical studies today.

This is a unique opportunity to meet the woman who had the distinction of having “made classics cool” for a generation of scholars.

The six-week series saw an academic from the departments of History, Physics, Geography, Classics, English and Management take to the floor to talk about another woman in her field that inspired her.

The lecture is free and will be followed by a complementary reception. For more information click here

Wednesday 1 June 2011, 6.00pm, Management Auditorium.
