On track: Partnering with Schools for research, Impact and Engagement

What is it?

For many academics, working with primary/secondary schools is a rewarding way of making research relevant beyond academia. For other, schools and their pupils are the actual subjects of research that generate data. For the uninitiated, knowing how to broker and foster partnerships with schools can be daunting. This session offers advice and guidance to academic colleagues wanting to take their research into schools or to develop existing school-university partnerships. Topics covered include:

  • Why and how to work with schools
  • How to influence national education policy
  • How to work with and influence teacher and subject associations and exam boards
  • How to create research-based teaching resources
  • What existing opportunities academics can join
  • Info on relevant funding and further guidance

Speakers include Professor Giuliana Pieri (SMLLC), Dr David Brown (Farnborough Sixth Form College), Dr Jessie Ricketts (Psychology), Royal Holloway’s Student Recruitment and Partnerships team and the College’s Impact Managers, Kristina Glushkova and Olivia Swift.

Target audience

Academic colleagues wanting to take their research into schools or to develop existing school-university partnerships.
