Student support

Apply for your student finance

If you haven't done so already, it's time to apply for student finance to help with the cost of your studies. You can find more information on the Student Finance website about how to apply and how much you could receive.

It's important to apply now to get the process started. If anything changes before the start of your course, like what you're going to study, it's also important to let Student Finance know about this too.

Royal Holloway also offers a range of bursaries. Check online to see what you may be eligible for. You don't need to make a separate application for these, but it's a good idea to see if there's additional money you could receive.

New to the UK and free airport collection

The 'New to the UK' programme is a series of free events taking place from 17-19 September specially designed to help international students feel welcome and supported when they first join Royal Holloway. Whether you've studied in the UK before or not, we recommend that you attend this programme.

Our 'New to the UK' programme aims to help international students in 3 ways, by:

  • Giving you important information that will make your transition to studying at Royal Holloway and life in the UK as smooth as possible
  • Orientating you with the campus and surrounding area
  • Providing opportunities to socialise and meet other students

We're also offering a free airport collection from London Heathrow Airport on Wednesday 17 September, to our Egham campus. The deadline for booking the airport pick-up is 10 September at 8am (UK time). Book your pick-up here

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and your Student visa

If you’re a non-UK national you will most likely require a Student visa. If you are not sure if you require a Student visa, please contact our International Advice Team.

To apply for a Student visa you'll need a CAS number. We will only issue a CAS number once:

  • You have accepted us as your firm choice;
  • You have met all the conditions of your offer;
  • You have paid your tuition fee deposit.

You may be required to pass a pre-CAS interview. We will contact you by email if this is required.

"As a literature student, I have always been fascinated by the art around me. If I'm not busy sketching Victorian buildings, I can always be found petting the cats that stroll around the area".
