Tell us about your career path since graduation. How did you end up where you are?

It took a few months after I graduated to get my first full time role, which was a four-month contract as a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technician. From there I managed to secure an entry level role at a RSPB nature reserve in Scotland. I consider this my breakthrough role in the conservation sector; it’s led me to where I am now.

What was it about your time at Royal Holloway that has most benefitted your career?

The course I took was so relevant to my career and the field I am in, especially modules in my final year. Being the president of Rotaract Society at university and volunteering with Thames 21 for a habitat restoration project has also benefitted my career.

What would you say to potential students considering studying at Royal Holloway?

My experience was 100% amazing. I recommend the BSc Ecology and Conservation course for to anyone looking to venture into the wildlife conservation sector, as it teaches you a lot of valuable practical skills and the tutors and lecturers were also passionate about the subject they teach.

What did you love most about your time at Royal Holloway?

I loved spending my time at the library. It is such a cool spot to hang out with friends and a relaxing place to do your revisions. It felt luxurious too, with the view of the Founders building. I also loved my time at the student accommodation within campus. I have lots of lovely memories wandering around campus at night and still feeling so safe.
