Students will examine concepts of risk and uncertainty in investment decision-making, along with approaches for assessing and managing risk in straightforward scenarios. The module explores a range of long-term financing options and the role of capital markets in enabling business access to funding.
Students will learn how to estimate the weighted average cost of capital (WACC) and evaluate its relevance to both investment and financing decisions. The module also emphasises the importance of effective working capital management, including techniques for managing receivables, payables, inventory, and cash through the use of financial ratios and analysis of the operating cash cycle.

In this immersive, 30-credit module, students will become consultants-in-residence for London itself, a global business hub facing pressing challenges and opportunities. Working with a partner organisation or client (e.g., social enterprise, startup, NGO, or public-private partnership), students will research, analyse and recommend strategies that align business innovation with London’s evolving role in the global economy. From inequality to climate resilience, fintech to inclusive entrepreneurship, students will gain real-world experience in applying their business knowledge to projects with purpose.

A central thread running through the module is systems thinking—a powerful approach for understanding how local decisions connect to global effects, and how change unfolds across networks of influence. Learners will be challenged to examine issues from multiple perspectives, anticipate future consequences, and reflect on the values and assumptions embedded in leadership choices.
Working with recognised sustainability frameworks and leadership tools, learners will develop practical capabilities in critical analysis, ethical reasoning, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communication. The module supports learners to navigate complexity and uncertainty with purpose, and to lead in ways that are thoughtful, future-focused, and grounded in social and environmental responsibility.

This module will have some structured lectures and seminars to prepare, guide and supervise students before, during and after the mandatory four weeks of professional placement attendance. This module enables students to synthesize the knowledge and understanding gained from theory into practical application to gain and enhance skills required of a competent and reflective practitioner. The focus will be on experiential learning supported by reflection and critical analysis. The Professional Placement3 will focus on equipping the students to lead, manage and facilitate change in health settings and set targets for own development towards professional career. Evidence of skills gained (certificates of completion, induction records, project plans), an updated SWOT analysis and Personal Development Plan (PDP) will be collated into an E- Portfolio.

This module provides students with the opportunity to undertake a substantive piece of applied research that addresses a real-world business challenge. Drawing on established frameworks and theories from the business and management disciplines, students will work either individually or in teams to deliver practical insights and recommendations to an organisation or business sector.
The capstone project enables students to demonstrate their mastery of business knowledge and research skills, consolidating learning from across their degree programme. Through authentic, hands-on engagement with real organisations, students will explore complex business issues and develop viable, evidence-based solutions.
To enrich the learning experience, the module includes guest lectures and mentoring from industry professionals, ensuring students are exposed to current business practices and leadership perspectives.
By the end of the module, students will have produced a rigorous, professionally relevant research report that reflects critical thinking, analytical ability, and an understanding of how business and management theories apply in practice.
