Tell us about your career path since graduation. How did you end up where you are?

I came to study the MA as a mature student, with already 30 years of professional experience in dance and the performing arts. Getting my MA enabled me to work in higher education institutions across UK. Since graduating, I have taught at London Contemporary Dance School, London Studio Centre, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance-   some of the top institutions in the UK. I am currently the Course Leader for the MA in Choreography at Central School of Ballet.

Alongside my work as a lecturer, I am also an independent dance artist. I have secured Arts Council England funding, and last year I was commissioned by Sadlers Wells, funded by ACE, and supported by Central School of Ballet (among others) to create a choreography, which has now been nominated for a National Dance Award for Choreography.

What was it about your time at Royal Holloway that has most benefitted your career or influenced your path since graduation?

Gaining an MA has opened doors for me, there is no question about that! While at Royal Holloway I collaborated with an MA Playwriting student, and we created three shows together. He remains a good friend more than 10 years later. What I learned doing the MA, and the rigor at Royal Holloway, have helped me become more articulate about my artistic practice. One of my tutors, David Williams, was an exceptionally articulate observer of theatre and life, and I would like to acknowledge his influence.

What would you say to potential students considering studying at Royal Holloway? / What advice would you give to students thinking about a career in your sector?

Royal Holloway has a beautiful campus, and is a great university. My advice for students in the arts in general is to learn business skills and be persistent.

What did you love most about your time at Royal Holloway? / What's your favourite memory of Royal Holloway?

I loved the beautiful studio spaces in the newly built theatre building. I was at the inaugural performance in the Caryl Churchill Theatre when it opened in 2013 with a special performance of Tim Crouch's 'my arm'. My favourite memories of my time at Royal Holloway were my time creating performative events with colleagues on the courses, and the thrill of being "at school" again after so many years.
