With 76% of all students reporting a negative impact on study due to the cost of living*, a priority for Royal Holloway is finding relevant and accessible ways to support our students both on and off campus. The end of last year saw the launch of ‘Community Cupboards’
‘Community Cupboards’ - pantry-style cupboards filled with non-perishable food and household goods, stocked by campus shops, and the University, which students have free and unlimited access to. There are now four cupboards on are Egham campus in Tommy’s Lounge in the SU Building, Windsor Student Lounge, Wettons Student Lounge and in the Shilling Student Lounge.
Following a successful pilot in the 24-25 academic year our period products initiative has expanded significantly with free products now available at 12 locations across campus. To date, students have accessed more than 12,000 pads and tampons, ensuring consistent availability of essential items.

Fresh fruit baskets are also delivered every Monday to each of the three student lounges, with 36 boxes supplied so far. This supports healthier snacking habits, contributes to a more welcoming campus atmosphere, and offers a small but meaningful boost to students’ finances.
Our For What Matters Fund is our most agile and impactful source of student support. It allows us to respond quickly to the most urgent needs of students, whether that is financial hardship, access to equipment, or emergency aid, ensuring students can stay on track and succeed.
