Royal Holloway is continuing to develop its historic estate to provide a 21st-century campus that meets the needs of everyone visiting, studying and working at the university today and in the future.

In 2019, a series of public consultation events were held and the university’s estate development plans were shared with the local community for their feedback. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to attend the events and provide feedback, which has been used to help shape the proposals.

Two planning applications have now been registered with Runnymede Borough Council which relate to the Rusham Park site. These applications are now being considered by the Council.

  • Rusham Park outline planning application which seeks the principle of redeveloping the site into a student village with purpose built student accommodation including up to 2,000 study bedrooms. The application includes a summary of the feedback provided by the local community and how the proposals have been shaped in response. The Council is inviting comments to be made by 24 February 2020.
  • Variation of condition application to amend planning permission to enable the university to bring the retained multi-deck car park at Rusham Park into use under a University Campus Wide Car Parking Management Plan. The details of this plan are included within the Transport Statement submitted as part of the planning application. The Council is inviting comments to be made by 20 February 2020.

Further planning applications for developments are expected to be made over the next few months.

The development plans shared at the public consultation events are available here.
