Royal Holloway bus service

  • Date27 February 2024

Local residents and students are able to make use of a bus route in the Egham and Englefield Green area, thanks to a partnership between Royal Holloway, University of London and a local bus operator.

The service, run by Diamond Buses in partnership with Royal Holloway, is for the University’s students, but remains open to the public. Services commence at 7am and finish after midnight every day.

The bus, which is named the ‘RHU’ service, runs daily from Egham Station to Hox Park. The route also stops on Elmbank Avenue, in Englefield Green, during later services.

Commuters can catch the bus roughly every 40 minutes, with the last bus stopping at Egham Station at 1.16am.

Various day time legs of the bus route are free for students and local residents, with all evening trips charged at £1.

The route, as well as the pricing, encourages students at Royal Holloway to travel on the ‘RHU’, rather than the other services aimed at local residents.

Michael Berry, Director of Estates at Royal Holloway, said: “The University is always open to appropriate opportunities to enable its local residents to additionally benefit from services initially created to support our students and staff.

“This bus service is an example of this approach which underpins our desire to seek the widest positive outcome for not only the University, but the community within which it operates.”
