Our collection has always been a teaching collection which allows students to explore issues, subjects and themes relevant to a wide range of courses available at the University.
How We Teach
We welcome colleagues and course convenors to work with us to offer taught sessions in the gallery, art store and exhibition space - either standalone or embedded into modules. Collections sessions are a unique and special experience we can offer our students.
Sessions can be led by the curator, the lecturer or both – they can focus on themes and subjects in the works themselves or visual skills development: “how to” analyse an artwork or object.
Example sessions:
-
Victorian Art/Culture
-
Urban/rural life
-
Crime and punishment
-
Notions of childhood
-
Gender
-
Material culture/print culture
-
Visual anaylsis: how to use an artwork as source material
-
