Cash award of £4,000 for first year of study for students from the UK studying BSc Social Science. 

Two scholarships are available for new full-time first year students joining us in September 2026, who can demonstrate financial need.

We advise you to read the guidelines below before you submit your application.

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is 9am (UK time) on Tuesday 1 September, 2026.

You will need to write a scholarship statement of no more than 400 words, which should include:

  • academic achievements you are particularly proud of and why these really matter to you
  • why you have chosen to do the degree you have applied for
  • what your future aspirations are and how the scholarship will help you to achieve your future goals.

You need to also confirm that you have applied/or intend to apply for Student Finance.

Applications which exceed the word count will automatically be rejected. 

This scholarship can be held alongside other Royal Holloway scholarships, discounts or tuition fee reductions. 

You will need to give permission to the SLC to share your household income information and details of your maintenance loan application with Royal Holloway.
