Funding research for international students

Funding research for international students

We cooperate with a growing number of international organisations to offer joint scholarships to talented international MPhil/PhD students.

Our international research partners include the Chevening Secretariat, the US-UK Fulbright Commission, the Indonesia-UK DIKTI Scholarship Programme, FIDERH Banco de México and the SAID Foundation.

Pakistan Higher Education Commission

In collaboration with the Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC), we are offering four joint Royal Holloway-HEC PhD scholarships for September 2022 entry. These scholarships are for Pakistani nationals and cover all academic PhD disciplines at Royal Holloway.

Each scholarship will last for three years, consisting of a tuition fee waiver provided by Royal Holloway, and an annual maintenance allowance of £12,180 (£1,015 per month), including a return flight to and from the UK, provided by the Pakistan HEC.

How to apply

Applicants who have successfully been shortlisted by the HEC for this scheme, and who wish to apply for this funding, must apply by email and provide the following documents:

  • a copy of their Royal Holloway offer letter
  • a copy of the official documentation from the HEC confirming the award
  • a 400 word personal statement outlining why they wish to be considered for this scholarship and how a PhD from Royal Holloway would aid their chosen career

Please send the above to RHPS@rhul.ac.uk by the deadline of 1 July 2022 (23:59 BST). Our scholarship and bursary committee will then notify the HEC of the four successful candidates by 29 July 2022.

Applications for the joint Royal Holloway-HEC PhD scholarship are made directly to the Pakistan Higher Education Commission. Find out more about the scheme.
