Dr Pirkko Koppinen Scholarship

Dr Pirkko Koppinen Scholarship

This scholarship is available to a new full-time student with Home or International fee status applying for MA Medieval Studies.

It is available as a tuition fee reduction and living costs contribution (where applicable) to the value of £12,000.

Am I eligible?

You must hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study MA Medieval Studies at Royal Holloway.

You will need to have achieved, or be on target to achieve, a 2:1 degree or higher.

How do I apply?

You must apply via our online system Royal Holloway Direct, where you will be able to complete your statement and upload any required documents including your grades transcript.

You will also need to provide an academic reference (see application guidelines below).

The deadline for applications is 23 July, 2021.

You must provide a supporting statement of no longer than 500 words. This should include:

  • academic achievements you are particularly proud of
  • why have you chosen to do the degree you have applied for
  • how you plan to use this MA in your future research and career path and how will the scholarship help you achieve it.

Your statement will be judged on how effectively and convincingly you respond to the above.

As well as your statement, you will need to upload your most recent grades transcript from your undergraduate degree.

You must have a written academic reference letter (up to 200 words). This must be submitted from an academic who has previously supported, taught or worked with you. Please ask the academic to email their reference letter directly to humanities-school@rhul.ac.uk.

The scholarship is £12,000 to cover tuition fees and a contribution towards living costs.

For Home fee students, the scholarship provides a full tuition fee reduction with the remainder paid as a cash award as a contribution towards living costs. Home fee students will not be eligible for any other tuition fee discount, for example the alumni discount. The above also applies to International fee students who qualify for the EU fee reduction scholarship.

For International fee students, the scholarship provides a £12,000 reduction on your tuition fees.

This scholarship is only available for one year of study. No additional payment is offered in any following years if the duration of the course is longer than one year.
