Flexible admissions for 2022 undergraduate entry

Flexible admissions for 2022 undergraduate entry

Important information for students thinking of applying to start an undergraduate course in September 2022

We know that your education has been disrupted during the pandemic and that you might be worried about the impact that will have on your ability to meet our entry requirements.

To reassure you, if you receive an offer to start a course at Royal Holloway in September 2022, or defer your entry to September 2023, we have already confirmed to you that when this year’s A-level results are published in August 2022, we guarantee that we will confirm your place even if one of your final A-level grades is one grade below those you have received in the offer we’ve made to you through UCAS. (Applies to applications made by 4 July 2022.)

Whether your application is to start in 2022 or 2023, please note that if your course requires you to achieve a subject-specific result, you will still need to achieve that grade, and (if relevant) the original English language requirements will still apply.

If your offer is based on a different qualification such as IB, BTECs, Scottish Highers, Welsh Baccalaureate, or other international qualifications, we will give you the equivalent flexibility as students taking A-levels.

Please note

  • This guarantee excludes our Integrated Foundation Year and International Foundation Year courses.
  • Where one or more subject-specific requirements are included in your offer, you will still need to achieve these grades. For example, if your offer for BSc Mathematics requires you to achieve an A in Maths at A-Level, you will still need to attain an A grade in Maths. You could achieve one grade lower in one of your other subjects, and be guaranteed your place on results day.
  • If your offer contains an English Language requirement, please note that these requirements remain fixed and must be attained.

The information on this page is also provided in a downloadable pdf for 2022 entry.

Please see the dropdown list below, for information on specific qualification requirements.

If you are studying for A-levels, please use the tables on this downloadable pdf to identify what this means for you.

If you are studying for non A-level qualifications, please contact us using our application query form and we will be able to confirm the equivalent grades at which we will accept you.

If your offer is subject to achieving an EPQ, the guarantee of one grade below applies to your main A-level subjects and not the EPQ.

If your offer is based on joint BTEC/A-Level study, the guarantee of one grade below refers to the A-level(s) being studied.
