Royal Holloway Volunteering is turning 20! Once known as Royal Holloway Community Action, the team was originally founded on 14 February 2003 and since then, thousands of students have made volunteering part of their university life - offering their time to important causes in the local community and on campus.

If you’re on our Egham campus, we’ll be celebrating our anniversary at the Volunteering Fair on Wednesday (8 February) in the Davison building. Community partners such as Sight to Surrey, Literacy Pirates, Voluntary Support North Surrey, the Brooklands Museum Trust and more will be joining us, as well as our own Royal Holloway Community Research team, Social Action student-led projects and Sports Volunteering - all from 11am-3pm.

You will also be able to find out more about our international volunteering opportunities with Challenges Abroad, Think Pacific and Raleigh International who all have Turing Scheme funding available.

Volunteering is a great way to build employability skills such as communication, resilience, teamwork, and leadership, and it also demonstrates to future employers how you have expanded your skillset during your studies. This year, Student Volunteering Week is taking place from 13-19 February. The week is a national celebration of volunteering, and we will be opening recruitment for our new student leader roles for the 2023/24 academic year. If you’re interested in signing up as a volunteer, you can register your interest here.

Find out more about our 20th-anniversary celebrations and the history of Royal Holloway Volunteering on our interactive timeline here, and if you have a volunteering memory that you would like to be added to our timeline, please fill in our online form here.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
