May 07 2023

On Tuesday (2 May), we celebrated our annual Hall Life Awards, a celebration of all of you who live in our Halls of Residence. The event was an opportunity to appreciate those of you who have gone above and beyond, or supported and enhanced our Hall Life community.

The ceremony was hosted by Professor Julie Sanders, our Vice-Chancellor and Principal, and we celebrated six awards in total including; flatmate of the year, overcoming adversity, best cook, eco-warrior, keen bean, and Hall Life student staff member of the year. The awards were presented by Helen Groenendaal; Head of Wellbeing, David Berry; Head of Residences, Mark Hyndman; Head of Student Engagement and Sport, and your SU President, Maia Jarvis.

A huge congratulations to our winners – Kristof, Jacob, Gayatrai, Phoebe, Adam, and Francesca.

As well as the award ceremony, we also run events for you all – even if you don’t live in halls. You can attend yoga sessions in collaboration with Active Lifestyle and Sport taking place every Wednesday (a great opportunity to relax and focus the mind during this key assessment period!). If you’re like me and excited for Eurovision, you can join us in the Shilling Auditorium on Saturday (13 May) from 7pm or join us on Founder’s Field on Wednesday 31 May between 12-4pm for Mini Golf.

Keep up to date with everything that is going on via our Instagram and if you have an idea for an event, we’d love to hear from you so please email hall.life@royalholloway.ac.uk.

If you are living in halls of residence on our Egham campus and need support, you can meet one of our friendly Hall Life Duty Officers between 7–8.45pm every evening during term time, at Founder’s Visitor Centre.

Hopefully see you at an event soon!
