FAQs

Although we recommend that you plan your journey in advance and give yourself plenty of time, we understand that certain situations are out of your control.

If your commute makes you late for class, don't panic. It's better to attend a class late than not at all. Transport can be unpredictable, so as long as you explain your circumstances to your lecturers, they'll understand.

It's a good idea to let your lecturers know at the start of term if you have a long commute to campus so they can be mindful of any lateness.

Laptops are available for loan in the library from the self-service machines. You will need your student card which you'll be issued when you start and you'll be able to borrow a laptop for up to six hours for use within the library.

If you're considering commuting, you certainly won't be alone. Around 38% of our students commute between 3 and 50km to our Egham campus so you'll have this in common with lots of other students you meet.

If you decide to commute and realise it isn't working, then don't worry. If you're still in your first year, you'll be eligible to apply for a room in our halls of residence.

After the accommodation deadline, remaining rooms are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and if we're unable to make you an accommodation offer immediately, your application will be added to a waiting list.

For that odd night where you don't fancy the journey home, you've got the option of staying at The Hub, our on-site guest house where rooms are available throughout the year for stays of up to 14 nights.

There's also a choice of low-cost hotels in nearby Egham and Staines.
