We provide comfortable and convenient accommodation options for students who need a temporary stay while studying at Royal Holloway. Whether you’re commuting for classes or joining us as an exchange student, we have accommodation options tailored to your needs.
Commuting Students
We understand that some students choose to commute rather than live on campus. To support your needs, we offer flexible options if you require short stays or decide to move into Halls later in the year.
Short-Stay Accommodation
Our on-site Guest House provides a number of en-suite, rooms available throughout the year for short stays of up to 14 nights. This is ideal if you need to stay on campus for exams, events, or other commitments.
Changing Your Mind?
If you start as a commuting student and later decide you’d prefer to live on campus, you can still apply for accommodation in our Halls of Residence. We do not close applications during the year, so you’ll have the flexibility to join the campus community when it suits you.
Incoming Visiting Students (International Exchange, Erasmus and Study Abroad)
We are pleased to offer accommodation to visiting students joining us for:
- Full Year
- Term 1 only (September – December)
- Terms 2 & 3 (January – June)
As a visiting student, you can apply to live in any of our undergraduate Halls of Residence, giving you the chance to experience campus life and make the most of your time here.
Accommodation Contract Dates
Full Year students: Accommodation is available for the entire academic year (September to June)
Term 1 students: Your accommodation will run from September to January.
Terms 2 & 3 students: Your accommodation will run from January to June.
To be eligible to apply for accommodation, you must have accepted your offer of study.
Eligibility
To apply for accommodation, you must:
- Have accepted your offer of study with us.
- Be a visiting student for the specified period.
Guest Researchers
We don’t normally offer campus accommodation to visiting research students. Please contact Student Accommodation at StudentAccommodation@royalholloway.ac.uk to discuss possible options.
