Welcome to Royal Holloway Science Festival. We have run our hugely popular science open day for over 30 years, celebrating science and attracting large audiences each year.
At Royal Holloway, we have a thriving science community with world-class pioneering research across the spectrum of science, and it's important for us to engage the next generation in these subjects and make it fun.
Our Science Festival is an opportunity to experience a range of interactive displays and talks from, and for, people with a passion for science and technology.
We're planning our next event on Saturday 28 March 2026 10am-4pm - so come back here nearer the time to find out more about what's happening!
No advanced booking is necessary and all events are free. Some activities are ticketed, and these are available on the day on a first come first served basis to help us manage seating.
A wide variety of food and drink will be available to purchase from campus outlets throughout the day.
Join us for a fun and educational day for all ages, where discoveries await at every corner. Where will your curiosity lead you?
Looking back
Special guests at our last festival included talks from maths champion juggler, Colin Wright, and a Guided Tour of the Darker reaches of the Periodic Table with Hal Sosabowski, Professor of Public Understanding of Science. Our own scientists presented talks on a range of themes from Missions to Asteroids, Colliding black holes, and the Future of Music and AI - to food security and how engineers help doctors with diagnoses. We welcomed back the ever popular Gauge One Model Railway Association Surrey with their miniature steam trains.
The programme included a range of things to see and do to explore science from across our science departments, with a treasure trail for younger visitors to complete their Science Passport.
