ACE-CSR

Royal Holloway is proud to be recognised with ACE-CSR status

The Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) scheme is a part of the UK government’s National Cyber Security Strategy, which involves engagement with industry and academia to make the UK more resilient to cyber attacks, and to protect and promote the UK in a digital world.

The ACE-CSR scheme is sponsored by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The NCSC and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) jointly recognise ACE-CSRs for conducting internationally leading research in cyber security.

ACE-CSR recognition is subject to stringent standards and requirements. Demonstrating a track record of publishing high-impact research in top-tier journals and conferences, and attracting a substantial number of academic staff engaged in cutting-edge research in cyber security are core requirements of the ACE-CSR scheme. To be recognised as an ACE-CSR, a university must have funding available from a variety of sources to sustain cyber security research activities, and a proven commitment from the leadership to invest in the university’s capabilities and capacity for conducting cyber security research.

The ISG is at the forefront of world-leading cyber security research, in areas ranging from cryptographic algorithms and the fundamentals of computer systems, up to the societal, economic, and political forces that affect (and are affected by) the rapid pace of technological change. Royal Holloway is proud to be recognised with the ACE-CSR status, and to have the opportunity to contribute to the UK’s cyber security.
